Why OSS?

Some of you may be questioning why are going to all this trouble to create yet another online posting platform? Simple, OSS is intended to open up more advanced techniques for communicationa and collaboration. I am reading John Seely Brown's The Social Life of Information, and he says the following: "So if you want to make your organization smarter, then enable, encourage, and reward the social interchange of information: conversations. think about ways the practices that emerge from those conversations can be recorded and share." This is the perfect reasoning behind OSS.

At the core of Zakros is the art of communication, the art of collaboration, the art of performing together across distance and geography. OSS is the central vehicle, the driving force, the practice of recording and sharing to make this happen. In order for all of our work to have social meaning, we must not just generate work and information, we need as John Seely Brown describes, to build a social life of information.
