The Socially Engaged Artist

I can't over stress the importance of communication in the creative process, it's at the center of the performing arts.

OSS simply changes the paradigm of how artists work and exchange ideas with other artists. It's about the idea of what the artist gains when they are sharing their process, documenting their process, learning from one another, collaborating on ideas if not the work itself. That is what OSS is all about, it's a new way of researching, designing, and creating collectively. But it a requires a commitment, it requires that the artist sees the value in the quality of social interaction. And the only way that this value becomes visible is by doing, sharing, and creating together within a system that supports it.

So that is why I stress the importance of embracing this medium, it's a game changer.
